09.03 Klitschko vs Sosnowski May 29 in GelsenkirchenWBC heavyweight champ Vitali Klitschko will fight reigning EBU ruler Albert Sosnowski May 29 at the Veltin Arena (homeground for Schalke 04) in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
Sosnowiski´s defence against Audley Harrison that was set for April 9 in London is now off but Matchroom is looking to match Audley against someone else so the show is still on.
Klitschko vs Sosnowski was made after talks of Vitali fighting Russian giant Nikolai Valuev finally broke down after Valuev according to Bild had turned down an offer for 2,5 million USD.
Albert Sosnowisk, 31, hails from Poland where he began his career as a kickboxer but then turned to boxing and turned pro in 1998. He had a very careful build up and was for instance 17-0 before he in 2000 fought his first eight rounder - and that was against a by then totally shot Everett Martin. He then suffered an upset loss to Arthur Cook in 2001 in an attempt to win the WBC Youth title and what then followed was a long road on the way to nowhere (or so it seemed) with a number of four and six rounders against trialhorses. In 2006 Albert won the WBF title though and then stopped Frenchman Steve Herelius - a win that today looks pretty good as Steve is now down to cruiser and scheduled to fight for the vacant EBU crown.
In 2008 Sosnowski lost to Zuri Lawrence over eight - and he lost all eight rounds on all scorcards but then bounced back with a stoppage win over Danny Williams and then drew - and many felt he had won - with Francesco Pianeta in Germany for the EU belt before winning the vacant EBU title late last year with a stoppage win over Paolo Vidoz.
Sosnowski is 45-2-1 as compared with 39-2 for Klitschko - which only show the trick numbers can do.
On the undercard heavyweight Alexander Ustinov take on American Ed Mahone.

04.03 Euro NewsWBA middleweight champ Felix Sturm have in a regional court in Hamburg, Germany, made it clear he will not go through with the mandatory defence against Gennadyi Golovkin. The court did not rule in the existing contractual dispute between Sturm and Universum. A decision in that case is not expected in the near future. In effect in could mean that Sturm gets stripped of the title while he is fighting Universum in the courts. Sturm and his team had apparently made attempts to promote the fight against Golovkin without Universum´s involvement and Universum took legal action and came out a winner - at least short term.
